Scarab - The Super Malenki

(0 review)

Meet the Scarab — a high-current evolution of the Malenki design, delivering 9 amps per drive channel while maintaining the simplicity and reliability Malenki boards are known for.  Built for more demanding robots and higher power requirements.

A dual brushed ESC and receiver combo designed specifically for combat robotics. Using the AFHDS2A radio protocol, it combines drive control, weapon control, and radio reception into a single lightweight board, making it an excellent choice for 1 lb - 3 lb robots.

(the "2A" is important, please make sure that your radio supports the AFHDS2A protocol)

During development and early testing, the Scarab hardware successfully operated at 12 amps per channel. However, the production firmware limits output to 9 amps per channel to provide additional reliability, thermal margin, and long-term durability.

Power and Reliability

The Scarab is designed for builders who need more current capacity without sacrificing stability. By setting a conservative operational limit below the hardware’s maximum capability, the Scarab offers strong performance while reducing the risk of overheating or component stress during aggressive driving.

Setup Resources

A complete Malenki / FS-i6 radio setup video is available to guide you through configuration and initial use. The functionality and configuration of the Scarab is the same as the Malenki.

All historical information, documentation, and background on the Malenki platform can be found here: Malenki Nano

Pre-Power-Up Assembly Review (Limited Offer)

Due to the cost and performance level of the Scarab, we want to help ensure smooth assembly and successful first power-up. For approximately the first 40–50 Scarabs sold, we are offering a pre-power-up assembly review. If you would like us to check your setup before applying power, please send clear photos of:

  • Both sides of the Scarab

  • Your complete wiring harness

We will do our best to review your submission and provide feedback as quickly as possible to help prevent avoidable issues.

Pro Tip

Always test before potting or heat-shrinking.

Taking clear photos of both sides of the board before final encapsulation can be invaluable if troubleshooting is needed later.
