As far as we know, these are the only 12 mm all-metal planetary gearmotors designed specifically for this market—and they remain remarkably lightweight, starting at just 13.8 g.

Optimized for Secure Wheel Retention

The Turnabot Planetary motors pair exceptionally well with the Turnabot Torque-Lock Collet Wheel System. The D-flat on the output shaft is precisely sized to allow the wheel to be securely clamped and retained with a circlip on one side, while maintaining proper clearance from the motor body. This results in a robust, combat worthy wheel attachment that stays secure without loading the motor shaft.

Why Planetary (Not Spur)?


Impact Survival

Planetary gearboxes distribute shock loads through the carrier and ring gear, significantly reducing shaft bending and tooth shear that commonly disable spur gearboxes during impacts.


Higher Torque Capacity

Multiple planet gears share the load, allowing far more torque to be transmitted within the same 12 mm diameter envelope.


Secure Wheel Retention

Each Planetary 12 features a 16 mm output shaft with a machined retention notch and ships with an included circlip (compatible with other retention hardware). This provides dramatically improved wheel retention under weapon hits and wall impacts.

N10 Planetary

Ultralight planetary strength in the smallest package.

N20 Planetary

The most popular size, now with planetary durability.

N30 Planetary (3S)

Essentially an N20 in an N30 form factor, with increased thermal mass for longer battle time—especially on 3S.

N30 Planetary (2S)

The most powerful option in the lineup, offering enormous torque and corresponding current demands.

  • One N30 per drive side using a Malenki HV on 2S

  • For additional motors and/or higher voltage, use a Scarab ESC


Notes on Use

These motors are extremely powerful for their size. Avoid prolonged stalling, as continuously applying power while the motor is prevented from spinning can damage any brushed motor of this performance level.
