Can Elementary Students Really Build These?

Yes. With our pre-soldered kit option, elementary students (typically grades 3–5) can successfully build and battle their own robot with guided instruction.

Students do NOT need prior robotics experience.

And you do NOT need to be a robotics expert to lead this program.

We provide:

  • Step-by-step written instructions

  • Video tutorials

  • Structured lessons

  • E-learning courses

What Will My Students Know or Be Able to Do?

By the end of a Turnabot build, students will:

  • Understand basic circuits and power systems

  • Identify and explain motors, batteries, and servos

  • Use hand tools safely

  • Follow multi-step engineering instructions

  • Practice teamwork and problem-solving

  • Develop resilience and sportsmanship

  • Experience the excitement of real competition

Students leave saying:  “I built that.”

How does Turnabot fit at your school

Everything you need

Flexible Time Options

Creatabot Kit builds can be implemented as:

  • 1–2 week build unit with 45–60 minute class blocks

  • 6–8 week STEM club with weekly 45–60 minute class blocks

An equal amount of time can be added on to incorporate 3D Modeling and Iterative Design. Make sure to also leave plenty of time to battle between modifications. This is where so much of the learning and creativity can occur!

3D Modeling & Creatabot Extensions

Want to extend learning into design?

Students can use free platforms like TinkerCAD to:

  • Modify robot parts

  • Design new attachments

  • Learn basic 3D modeling

Our 3D Cad Library and Builder's Lab includes:

  • STL files

  • STEP files

  • Modeling guidance

Frequently asked questions

Here are some common questions about our kits.

No. Everything is structured for first-time robotics teachers.

No coding is required.

We recommend 1 - 3 students per build team. 2 students is a sweet spot for providing camaraderie and support while still giving each student plenty of hands on experience.

Pre-soldered kits require only basic hand tools which are provided. There is a "Nice to have" tool set that is also available that includes a needle nose plier, flat jaw plier, and flush cutters. Standard (build from scratch) kits require a soldering iron and wire strippers.

We also also recommend getting the corresponding spares kit so that it's quick and easy to get back up and running. Make sure to order standard (build from scratch) or pre-soldered depending on what kits you ordered.
